Making a House (or RV) a Home…
I love reading blogs of families living on the road. I have been reading them for a long time now, and I follow several families as they travel and have unique adventures of their own. I couldn’t wait to start our own adventures and write them down to share with anyone who would want to join in the fun. One of the things I looked forward to was making our RV our home.
So many of the families modify their RV to make it more suitable for them. I was amazed at the creativity and -courage!- it took to change things. I believe a house is easy to change, but for some reason it is harder for me to visualize it with an RV. I like the colors of our home, so I don’t think we’ll paint it, but we did let the kids pick out curtains for their “rooms”. I wanted them to feel like that space was truly theirs and they could make it a retreat.
April, always being the hunter, picked curtains with deer on them.

Joshua picked a neat pattern of the solar system. It looks really cool at night when he has his light on inside his bunk. The planets light up and look like they are hanging in real space. He loves it!

They each have some drawers that fit on the top bunk that hold their clothes and we have mounted dry erase boards inside their rooms. Joshua hung some airplane and helicopter pictures in his room using velcro. I love seeing them make it their own space.
The living room floor is a big hang out spot for games. When Maximus comes in, we keep him safe from the baby’s pinches and ear-pulls with a gate. It works out great, but you do have to squeeze past him to get to the bathroom. Small price to pay, and they are both happier.

The shower itself has much more room than I thought it would, and even my linebacker of a husband doesn’t seem to mind it. He likens it to playing a game of Twister with the hand-held shower. The tub is the perfect size for Caleb, though!

It is official, we are home!
