Onward and Upward!

Arriving at Maumelle Park, Arkansas

Some of my friends and colleagues think I’ve simply lost my mind. As far as they are concerned, I am throwing away the most sought after career in the U.S. – a federal government job. What most don’t understand is the reasoning behind it . . . I’ve been called into ministry.

My first ministry is to my family. Being a Godly husband, father, and leader is what God has ordained in me, but for the last four years, I have endured 15 hour work days (including 3-4 hour daily commutes) leaving Saturday and Sunday the only time to unwind, relax, and spend time with my wonderful wife and children.

The bottom line was Monday through Friday, I was a zombie . . . I had nothing left when I walked through the door each night so I quickly realized that something needed to change and fast. Before I knew it, my newborn son Caleb was 9 months old and I felt the long hours taking their toll on all of us.

I prayed for God’s provision and direction, and He answered!

Fast forward 2 months, a whirlwind interview, and a 1,000 mile journey, and we are now living in Little Rock, AR starting my new job with FamilyLife. Our house is on the market in D.C. so we have decided to live full time in our new Travel Trailer (The Ark) until the house sells.

Full-time RVing, however, has been our dream and what we are finding out is that we really love this — so much so that we are seriously entertaining living in The Ark long-term.

Our desire is to share our adventures with all of you! To our family and friends, thank you for your love and support. We are so blessed to start our ministry work here in LR, and we look forward to sharing our adventures along the way.

Blessings,

Mark
